Executive Director Job Description/Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

- Serve as chief executive and public representative of the organization

- Implement board-approved strategic plans and policies

-Support and partner effectively with the Board of Directors, Docents and Members of the organization

Operations & Management

- Oversee staff, volunteers, and contractors

- Ensure smooth daily operations, including facilities, programs, and events

- Maintain compliance with nonprofit governance, insurance, and regulatory

requirements

Financial & Fund Development

- Manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Board

- Lead fundraising efforts including sponsorships, grants, donations, and special events

- Cultivate relationships with donors, foundations, and community stakeholders

Community & External Relations

- Strengthen partnerships with civic, cultural, and tourism organizations

- Represent the organization at public events and meetings

- Promote the organization’s mission through marketing and outreach efforts

Qualifications

- Leadership experience in a nonprofit, cultural, or mission-driven organization

- Demonstrated experience with fundraising and financial management

- Excellent communication, organizational, and people-management skills

- Interest in history, preservation, museums, or cultural heritage preferred

Salary Range & Start Date

- $58,000 - $68,000 starting salary, depending on experience.

- Start date May 1, 2026
